Macroalgae are healthy and most flavorful additions to the diet of many reef aquarium species. For many species
of fish it is vital to proper nutrition. Many popular saltwater aquarium fish are herbivores, feeding primarily
on algae growing on the coral reefs. In fact, a healthy diet rich in amino and fatty acids provided by algae will
increase the longevity of reef fishes kept in aquariums. Further, a diet made up of algae promotes better color,
health, and vitality of most Tangs, many Angelfish, and some Wrasses. For years people have been feeding their
fish "substitute algae" such as raw lettuce and spinach. These greens are acidic in nature and freshwater
in composition. Marine algae have the necessary salts and minerals that fish require.
Macro-Feast(TM) (Gracilaria sp.) is simply the best live feed for all of your herbivorous fishes.
Hard to feed Tangs, Moorish Idols and Angels, simply love this algae, and its presence will help the feeding response
of most other finicky fish as well.
Add Macro-Feast(TM) directly to your main tank (as decoration and food) or float it in your refugium as a biological filter to remove ammonia, nitrates and phosphates.
